quick question, do I need to setup vsan on the FIs if I am connecting a pair of brocade dcx to the FI?

Yes ! Brocade doesn't understand VSAN tagging, but this is not a problem; the vsan tag will be removed on the link to Brocade.
Within UCS domain, VSAN tagging is however used (mandatory)
