Cisco UCS M220 C3

Hi, I am new to Cisco UCS product.
Can anyone explain to me how many servers can I install in Cisco UCS M220 C3? I read the Cisco UCS M220 C3 data sheet, but it didn't state number of servers that can be installed there. Is there any ways to identify number of servers supported in Cisco UCS series server?

And another thing is can I install multiple CUCM servers in a single Cisco UCS M220 C3? For example, previously I use 2 MCS server to host 2 CUCM server with 1 as publisher and another 1 as subscriber.

Now can I just host the 2 CUCM server in a single Cisco UCS M220 C3 with 1 as publisher and another 1 as subscriber?

Really appreciate your explanation. Thanks.

Hello Lieu,

The number of Virtual machines is bounded by available resources ( CPU , memory ) on host and guest OS requirements.

If you are planning to deploy UC apps ( CUCM , CUC , CUPS etc ), please refer to following docs on requirements and limitations.

Hi Padramas,
Thanks a lot. I read the links you gave, so UCS can hosts multiple virtualized server in a single physical server.

Just to clarify, is it feasible to run 1 publisher CUCM and 1 subscriber CUCM in a single Cisco UCS server? Will it provide adequate redundancy required as running 1 publisher CUCM and 1 subscriber CUCM in 2 MCS server ?

Hello,

From hardware ( UCS ) and ESXi perspective, you can host both VMs on the same physical server.

However, UC apps have their co-residency rules / requirements ( i.e  which app servers can be hosted together ) and are documented here.

Hi Padma,

Really appreciate your help.

Just to ensure my understanding is correct, according to

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/OVA_Template_Details_for_Unified_CM_Release_9.0 :

VM OVA Capacity
VM OVA Parameters
Notes
vCPU Cores
(= Physical Cores)
Physical CPU Load was Calibrated TovRAM
(=Physical Memory)
vDisk
(=Physical space)
vNIC
Unified CM 1000 users

(1 device each - see notes)

Only for BE6K and certain TRCs - see notes
2
(with 800 MHz reservation)
E5506 2.13 GHz4 GB
(with 4 GB reservation)
1x 80 GB disk1For use only on UCS C200M2 TRC#1 (including BE6000) and C220M3 TRC#2 (including BE6000).

Applicable for publishers, subscribers, standalone TFTP and standalone multicast MOH nodes.

User count derived from the following (your design/results may vary):

  • 1K phones per VM
  • 4K max phones per cluster
  • 6K max BHCC per VM
  • 24K max BHCC per cluster

If I want to deploy CUCM for 4000 users on a single UCS C200M2, is it I need to install CUCM on 4 VMs with 1000 phones per VM, such that 1 of them be publisher, and the other 3 be subscribers ? To put it simple, is it I can run 4 CUCM servers on a single UCS C200M2 ?
Thanks
