Cisco UCS version 4.3.4a re-commission of rack server hangs

I am running Cisco UCS version 4.3.4a and have Cisco UCS C240 M7SX rack servers. I de-commissioned one of the rack servers and am trying to re-commission it and it just hangs. No progress.

UCS docs could probably use some polish to detail these steps.
Is anything showing on the physical console of the server?
(Really want to know if "UCSM" shows on the bottom right of the screen.)
Does the server show back up in the UCSM server list at all (and remove itself from the decommissioned tab)?
Do the FI ports show link?

May have to do what I call the UCS C-Series Hokey Pokey (If a Hokey Pokey step is missed, then you fail the Hokey Pokey and the server doesn't discover.) to get the server usable again:

  1. Decommission server (Let decommission happen for a good 60 seconds before moving on.)
  2. Disable FI ports (To prevent the server from auto-discovering)
  3. Delete server from decommissioned tab (This step assures UCS forgets about server)
  4. Unconfigure FI ports (Reset any lingering configuration on the port)
  5. Reconfigure FI ports as Server ports

If the server wasn't fully decommissioned or failed to [Reset to Factory], then the issue could be on the server side.

  1. So you'll have to configure the server's CIMC with an IP address through the physical console (after disconnecting from the FI).
  2. Connect to the CIMC over that IP address and [Reset to Factory] both the CIMC and the VIC.
  3. Connect server back to UCS FIs.
