Hello,
I'm trying to monitor my UCS C260 using SNMP traps sent to HP SIM. In order do import the Cisco MIBs into SIM, you compile a .cfg file. One of the MIBs, CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-TC-MIB, will not compile. When running the mcompile command, I get the following error message:
C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\mibs>mcompile CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-tc-MIB.mib
HP Systems Insight Manager Mib Compiler, Version 5.0.2.1
Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Hewlett Packard Corporation
Compiling CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-tc-MIB.mib
Line: 128: Error defining object: expected a label, found reserved symbol {
Mib compilation failed.
All of the other MIBs compile just fine and I don't see anything wrong with the MIB I downloaded from Cisco.
Any idea what might be going on here?
Attached is the MIB as well.

I am having the same problem!

I opened a ticket with TAC and sent them the MIB. They are supposed to be loading this up in their lab and checking it out. That was 4 days ago and I haven't heard back yet. I will post when I hear back.

Were you able to resolve this?
I'm still working with TAC but no resolution yet.

I have the same PB ! I put an ask on the forum too but nobody answered me...

I've had a TAC open since mid-February. My TAC manager reported that another TAC was resolved or worked around by HP, but Cisco doesn't know how. They've asked me to open a call with HP.
I'll be opening a call later this week... hopefully they have an answer for everyone.

I was told the same thing but HP didn't know either. Frustrating!!!

Chaps, i had the same issue, spoke with the chaps from Castle Rock and they confirmed this was due to bad coding within the MIB file.
I have succesfully compiled the version kindly amended by castlerock, they were quick to resolve this, their explanation as to the problem as below:
The problems with the MIB were that they are trying to enumerate the values with gauge and counter types. Only INTEGER/Integer32 types may have enumerated values (RFC2578, 7.1.1). There isn't a 64 bit integer type so they can't enumerate the Counter64 bit values. There were also problems trying to enumerate a textual-convention type (snmpAdminString) which is wrong in two ways - you can't enumerate a string value, and you can't nest a textual convention macro as a syntax in another (RFC1903, 3.5).
Please find the version i used attached.
Please feed back to the forum if this resolves the issue for your type of platform.....
Cheers
Barry

I cited the same syntax errors in the MIB when I opened my case in early February. The last word I've received on my TAC is that this is a confirmed "bug" and Cisco is "working ... to get it fixed." I think they were conviced it wasn't an HP when I reported that the exact same errors were being found using IBM's MIB compilers.

Hello,
We are actively working on this issue and will be addressing issues found in our MIBs.

Will update the thread once I have more information on it.
Thanks

Stephanie,
Are you able to try compiling that MIB file i attached to see if that resolves the issue on our platform too please?
I was a little annoyed to be told this was a platform dependant issue also by Cisco, even after citing this forum entry!
Many Thanks.
Barry

Dana, Thank you for the post! I was able to compile and import the updated TC-MIB, the remaining MIBs, and they've all loaded fine using HP mxmib. I've imported a UCS pod and one c-class blade, and we're scheduling some SNMP trap testing.
It looks like this updated MIB hasn't been posted publicly yet, so I'm holding my TAC open until testing is done. I'll post my results later this week.

I'm glad I could help.
I did some testing this morning after loading those MIBs and, unfortunately, the test traps sent from the CIMC on my C260 and C220 servers are still showing up as "Generic Unregistered". So frustrating!

Hello Dana / Stephanie,
We are fixing few issues in our MIBs so that it can be compatible with most of the standards based MIB compiler.

Thanks for your patience.
