Cisco VIRL :- Nexpose IP Address configured on eth0 not reachable from Nexpose within same VM Host

Hi All,

10.38.236.194 has been configured on eth0 of the Cisco VIRL VM, however it is still not reachable from Nexpose for security scanning.

Nexpose is on the same VM ESXi host as the Cisco VIRL VM, so no networking involved. Packets should leave the VM and reach the Nexpose VM within the same VM Network.

This is common practice for our VMWare team and no other Ubuntu based VM's have had this issue.

Please could someone assist with this, as this is holding back commissioning Cisco VIRL within our VM Environment.

Best Regards,

Alasdair

Sounds like you need to check your VMware level vswitch/DVS, and maybe firewall settings on the VIRL guest in question.

I'm not sure what udp/tcp ports are used for your scanning, but it would helpful to know what connectivity does work (i.e. ping, ssh, between the two guest VMs).

You also may want to post on the VIRL support forums at https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/groups/virl

Maybe firewall restrictions on the VIRL vm appliance block the scanning attempts.

Thanks,

Kirk...
