We have a few concerns / looking for more understanding on QoS Settings. As of now we are using both Microsoft HV & VMWare. Below are the details of current settings
QoS System Class : Gold - CoS-1/ weight 2 / MTU 9216, BE weight 5, FcoE Cos 3 / weight 3.
HV QoS Policies X 3.
LM & CSV Traffic – Gold / Burst : 10240 / Rate :line-rate.
Mgmt Traffic – BE / Burst: 1024 / line rate: 2000000 (to limit to 2 Gb).
VM Traffic – BE / Burst: 10240 / line-rate
vmWare QoS Policies X 3.
vMotion Traffic – Gold / Burst: 10240 / line-rate.
Mgmt Traffic – BE / Burst: 1024 / rate :2000000 (to limit to 2 Gb).
VM Traffic – BE / Burst (Bytes) 10240 / line-rate
We configured Gold System Class with MTU 9216 specific for LM & vMotion. Our concern is do we need Gold Class to be enabled just to configure MTU as 9216 with LM or vMotion? Or can we use Best Effort Class with MTU 9216 and with LM & vMotion QoS policy mention 9000 and with other VM QoS policy use the efault.
Still Burst & line rate part is not clear to us. Our understanding is to limit the bandwidth we need to configure line rate (Mgmt – line rate 2000000 -to limit to 2 Gb), but still about Burst.
If we disable Gold and configure the QoS policies with B/E how it affect existing traffic / connections?
