Hi All,
I have UCS MINI with 6324UP FI and the QSFP+ port is licensed
from the UCS MINI Specs Sheet I knew that the QSFP port could used in the following:
1- connecting to rack mount servers
2- connecting to storage
3- connecting to other chassis with 2208 or 2204 FEX
the question is:could I connect the QSFP+ port to SAN Switch (Brocade or MDS) with FC uplink port or I must connect the QSFP directly to Storage controller and use the FI to act as SAN Switch?

Hi Amr
see http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-6300-series-fabric-interconnects/datasheet-c78-732207.html
Fig. 3
40G port only supports FCoE.
If you need native FC, you use one of the 4 x 10G ports.
Walter.

That is good to know.
Question: does the UCS Mini automatically come with the 40G port license?
This SKU UCS-6324-40G (6324 Fabric Interconnect License for 40G Scalability Port)
Or do I need to purchase it seperately.
Regards,
Berend

Hello,
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/3-0/b_UCSM_GUI_User_Guide_3_0/b_UCSM_GUI_User_Guide_3_0_chapter_0101001.html#concept_02B3BE130EA54738A97CB23D97198B78
Each Cisco UCS 6324 Fabric Interconnect comes with a factory installed port license that is shipped with the hardware. This license is for the 4 10G unified ports, and can be used for any supported purpose. The scalability port license is factory installed with a grace period, and can be used for Cisco UCS rack servers, as an appliance port, or as an FCoE port.
You would need to buy a separate license after the grace period expires.
HTH,
Wes
