Dependencies Nexus 5548UP Upgrade / Fabric Interconnect

Hi,

we would like to perform an upgrade of our two Nexus 5548UP from 5.1(3)N2(1b) to 7.0(5)N1(1).

Unfortunately our server team just told us, that they are worried about their UCS/FabricInterconnect. They have following HW/SW in use:

  • UCS Manager: 2.1(1e)
  • Fabric Interconnects UCS 6248UP: 5.0(3)N2(2.11e)
  • Chassis UCS 5108
    • IO Module UCS 2208XP: 2.1(1e)
    • Server UCS B200 M3
      • Adapter UCS VIC 1240: 2.1(1e)
      • BIOS: B200M3.2.1.1a.0.121720121447
      • CIMC Controller: 2.1(1e)

Are there any restrictions regarding UCS when upgrading the Nexus 5548? Do we need to upgrade the UCS at the same time - or is the UCS not "bound" to the OS-version of the Nexus?

I couldn't find any matrix or documentation that would contain details about such a case.

Hope you guys can help.

BR

Hi Amir

Interop matrix for UCS switch interop is here

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/interoperability/matrix/r_hcl_B_rel2-21.pdf

Cisco UCS has no interoperability requirement for switch configured to use Ethernet when
connected through UCS Fabric Interconnect Uplink Port or Appliance Port.
