Iam trying to upgrade the cisco firmware to latest one for Cisco 220 M3s using ucs-c220-huu-2.0.8g.iso but the upgrade is failing while loading the the disk.

Iam using KVM console to upload the firmware ISO while looking at the background process(using f2 key).

I see below error

~~~
dracut: Starting plymouth daemon
/sbin/disco_platform.sh : platform identifier [UCSC-C220-M3S]
[: 250:C220: unexpected operator
/sbin/disco_platform.sh: platformstr=C220
[: 335: C220: unexpected operator
copying live image to RAM
(this may take few minutes)
~~~

it gets stuck there.

Greetings.

What is your current CIMC version you are upgrading from?

Have you tried doing a CIMC reboot (admin tab, utilities, reboot CIMC), and then rerun the HUU?

Are you on the same LAN as the CIMC, when you are connected via the vKVM/web interface?

Thanks,

Kirk

I have the same problem. Did you solve this?

Greetings.

Common issues we see impacting HUU upgrades:

  • Existing CIMC memory leak.  Reboot the CIMC before booting into the HUU ISO.
  • Low bandwidth between Web-browser where virtual KVM is running, and actual CIMC (i.e. over VPN)
  • If using dedicated MGMT interface, check the upstream switchport to make sure the CIMC and switch didn't negotiate a mismatched config (100 half duplex), or see huge number of CRCs on connection.

Thanks,

Kirk..

Kirk, thanks a lot!

Recently I had the same problem and I fixed by rebooting CIMC and disabling network throughput throttle for the VM I was using to map the ISO file. I did both at the same time so I'm not sure which one did the trick.

Thanks
Alex
