Host Upgrade Utility download issue / C210 M2 firmware upgrade

Damien

Hi Community !

I need to update VMware vSphere on a Cisco C210 M2 standalone server. I check the compatibility matrix and find the latest firmware version supported with VMware vSphere 5.5: version 1.5(6).

As I understand, updating server firmware needs HUU.

When I go to Downloads Home Products Servers - Unified Computing UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Standalone Server Software UCS C210 M2 Rack-Mount Server Software, the latest version available is 1.4(3x).

Anybody know why?

Hi Damien

Please check

http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/ucs/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

If you enter V 1.5.6 you will find the comment

The C210-M2 server requires release 1.4.3u [use HUU 1.4.3u].

Walter.

Thanks for the answer but it's not clear for me.

HUU 1.4.3u includes 1.5(6) firmware updates for C210 M2?

No, 1.4.3 is the last and recommended version for HUU and C210-M2

Yes, but the comment is about the u minor revision which was released on 16-AUG-2013, not the x version released on 27-NOV-2014. "requires" means "must be this version, not an older or a more recent".

Why the compatibility matrix certify that C210 M2 is certified on 1.5(6) but this version doesn't exist for this model?

Is it possible for Cisco to simply certify the 1.4.3x firmware with vSphere 5.5 into the Hardware and Software Interoperability Matrix Utility Tool?

Damien,

What we are trying to do is to make the documentation consistent, so if you were looking at the 1.5 compatibility document, you will also see a note that C210 is an exception where 1.4.3x is actually the equivalent version of 1.5x for other servers.

It's several months later and the documentation is still inconsistent. Neither 1.4.3u or 1.4.3x are listed in the Interoperability Matrix, but newer versions up to 1.5(6)a still contain C210 options that refer obscurely to 1.4.3u.  As Damien asked, why can't the matrix be updated and clarified?  Cisco customers deserve a little more effort to provide clear and correct information.
