How to move a blade server between chassis and domains

I am going to move a Windows server from one chassis to a new one and they are on different domains. OS is on local disks and I have no scrub policy in use on it. It has iSCSI drives which are configured within the OS. I’ll expect the OS to find new NICs when it boots on the new hardware and I plan to assign IPs on them once the server has booted in the new location.

Is it a case of:

  1.  Create identical Server Profile on the new domain (same vnics, vlans etc.) BIOS and firmware policies will change but am not concerned with those changes. I have no need to keep the same MAC addresses as these will change also.
  2.  Shutdown OS / Blade
  3.  Disassociate old SP from blade.
  4.  Decommission old blade
  5.  Move to new chassis
  6.  After discovery and firmware update, associate new SP to blade and allow to boot up.
  7.  Move complete

Does anyone know if there are any other issues moving a blade as described?  I am thinking of removing the vNICs before the move so the OS doesn’t have an NICS when it boots up and will install the nee vNICS assigned under the new profile, kind of cleaner that way.

With different domain you mean "UCS domain=(FI, chassis, blades,....) ?

This should work without problems, but

- as you mention mac, uuid ,....pools should be unique across the 2 UCS domains

- if the IP address of the OS stays the same, IP connectivity has to be in place for this second site
