I'm trying to install Ubuntu on MCS 7800 server that had windows 2012 already installed.
it stops at first step saying there is no clean file system.
can any one help in sorting out this problem?

So that is likely a old IBM or HP server.
Checking spec sheets, those tended to have single socket (a few were dual socket) dual core Xeon procs (i.e.Dual Core Xeon E8400 ), with some sort of hardware raid.

If it is HP equipment, it is likely DL 320/380 G3/G4 type equipment.
If you check the Ubuntu HCL for server equipment, it looks like HP G7's are the oldest listed equipment on HCL list for HP.
Unless you are trying to install a very old version of Ubuntu (i.e. 12), I suspect you may have issues.
You may have better luck posting on Ubuntu forums
