Intel Quad port Gbe E1G44ET and UCS C210

Hello,

We have 2 intel quad E1G44ET (ref Cisco: N2XX-AIPCI02) on a UCS C210 M2 Server with W2K8 R2 Std OS.

The presence of these cards in the server severely disrupts the stability of the system.

For example:

Turning off the network card in the device manager freezes the system and causes an automatic reboot.

Following the crash, the system does not boot and we are forced to physically remove the two cards in order to restart Windows.

To restart with the two cards we have to uninstall the drivers and reinstall the drivers (the same!) before reconnecting.

At this point we can boot Windows and the two quad port cards can be used.

Is this problem known?
We obviously wanted the latest drivers ...

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Johan,

That card is not listed as supported with Windows 2008 R2.  (Server 2008 is supported, but not R2)

Thank you Robert,

But the compatibility has been verified here:

http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-009221.htm?wapkw=%28e1g44et%29

The Gigabit ET Quad Port tolerates Win 2008R2 in the list of supported OS.

The BIOS is up to date and we are on PCI-e 2.0

Johan

Can you provide the exact versions of:

-Intel Driver

-CIMC

-BIOS

Thanks,

Robert

I fixed this using the following versions in a C200M2 with theses cards:

  • Intel® Gigabit ET Dual Port Server Adapter
  • Intel® Gigabit ET Quad Port Server Adapter

Firmware CIMC version:            1.3(2d)

Firmware BIOS version:            1.3.2.0

Intel Driver version:                   11.7.32.0

Intel Driver date:                       01/12/2010

Hello,

Sorry for my absence these last few days

My current versions:

Firmware CIMC version:            1.3(1c)

Firmware BIOS version:            1.3.1.0

Intel Driver version:                   11.11.43.0

Intel Driver date:                       21/06/2011

Where do you find the version 1.3.2 ?

The latest version available on the Cisco download site is this one:

Filename: c200-1.2.2f.zip

Release Date: 23/Feb/2011

Description: UCS SCU Firmware package for UCS C-Series 200 and 210 servers

You can download it from here

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=283860950&flowid=25801&softwareid=283850974&release=1.3%282i%29&rellifecycle=&relind=AVAILABLE&reltype=latest

Its an ISO, boot it from CIMC using Out-of-Band Management Link.
