IOM firmware update stuck at 66% updating state

Hi,

The current firmware is 2.0(1s) and I try to update tot 2.0(4d) since it's prerequisite for 2.1(13). Updating UCS Manager is fine but the IOM is stuck at 66% for two days. I try to reset it and reboot the FI also but it didn't help. Look like I got the same issues here -

http://stretch-cloud.info/2012/09/major-bug-hit-cisco-ucs-chassis-beware-before-updating-firmware-2-0-4a/. The UCS unit itself only for demo so no support agreement. Any advice to fixed this problem? Thanks

Did you complete each stage in order?  You mention "UCSM Updated Fine" - UCSM doesn't update, it only activates, and if you "activated" UCSM before the IOMs were activated (set start up version only) out of order, that could land you in problems.

What are your current "running versions" of:

UCSM

FI-A

FI-B

IOM 1

IOM 2

Also, connect to the UCSM CLI, "connect NXOS" and provide the output of "show fex detail".

Regards,

Robert

Hi Robert,

Thanks and appreciate for your reply. You are right, I mean activated not updated for UCSM.

UCSM

     - Running         2.0(4d)

     - Startup          2.0(4d)

FI-A and FI-B 5.0

     - Running        (3)N2(2.1s)

     - Startup         (3)N2(2.1s)

IOM 1, IOM 2

     - Running        2.0(1s)

     - Startup         2.0(1s)

Output from show fex detail - I just removed the fex port details.

Not good to have such different versions.

I'd suggest you downgrade everything to 2.0(1s) and see if the IOMs come back to life.  Then follow the upgrade guide exactly in order.

If the IOMs are mistmatched with the FI's they can go unreachable.

Robert

Try to downgrade UCSM to 2.0(1s) and it still stuck at 66% updating. Thanks

The FI's should never be a higher version of SW than UCSM... downgrade that first.

The order per the Upgrade guide is critical

Update (order not important)

-Adapters

-CIMC

-IOMs

Activate

-Adapters

-CIMC

-IOMs (set start up version only - imparrative)

-UCSM

-FI-Secondary

-FI-Primary

To downgrade just reverse the order.  Also please use the correct terms when talking about updating vs. activating.  UCSM does not update...

Robert.

Hi,

FI is actually running 2.0.1s - don't know why it just 2.1s also. Try to roll back everything to original version also but no luck. I think I'm running into the same issues here -

ApApologies for the wrong term used also . Thanks
