iSCSI boot initiator addresses and vmware

Hi guys,

I'm booting from SAN over iSCSI using a pool of iSCSI initiators IP addresses. I'd like to use static addresses but I don't see a way of doing that while still having the service profile linked to a template. Anyway the questions:

1) Do people use a range of IP's for the iSCSI initiator pool and then a separate non-overlapping range (from the same subnet) for the vmware software initiator?

2) IF I could have static addresses on the service profiles, then would I use the same IP's on the vmware side?

Thanks!

Hi David - I had a similar question around if the iSCSI boot IP is released once the blade has booted up, but it also occurred to me that if if it was, the Host-OS would no longer have access to the storage it booted from..
