Logging log file Nexus 5596

Hi all,

I have several questions about the log file on the Nexus.

We restarted a Nexus switch few days ago and all the logs before the reboot are not present now.

We just have configured the default logging file :

Logging logfile:                enabled

        Name - messages: Severity - notifications Size - 4194304

I can't see where exactly this file is :

dir log:

         31    Jul 22 13:56:01 2013  dmesg

      59109    Jul 22 19:07:42 2013  messages <<<<<<<<<<

       3551    Jul 22 17:44:50 2013  startupdebug

on the bootflash? i can't found it !

Is the "old" logs are on this file "messages" ? If not is there a way to see these old logs?

Anyway how can we configure that the old logs will be storred on the bootflash for example with a size limit for example ?

Thank you for your help

Hello avedis,

You can use the "show logging nvram" to see the old log messages.
