LTO Libraries with UCS

Hello,

According to the HW Compatibility Matrix here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/interoperability/matrix/r_hcl_B_2.11.pdf

UCS is only compatible with Quantum LTO Libraries with Symantec NetBackup software...question is:

Does this refer to the case when the LTO is directly connected to the Fabric Interconnects of the UCS? I guess if a backup blade in UCS accesses an LTO through a current SAN (made up by Brocade or MDS switches) it doesn't really matter whether that is or isn't in the UCS HW compatibility guide??

Thanks

It might very well work, but if its not listed it's not supported - meaning if you run into issues TAC would be able to push back against anything beyond best-effort support.

There has to be enough asks for a parituclar device / software to gain support.  If there's minimal interest, we wouldn't invest QA resources on it.

If this is really important you can work with your local account team for a RPQ (Request for Platform Qualification).

Robert

It's listing only direct attach compatability.  We wouldn't validate each & every possible vendor connected elsewhere in your environment.   Just too many options & permutations.

What about Quantum libraries with EMC Networker in direct attach? It doesn't appear in the matrix, but considering EMC is a Cisco important partner...
