Moving hyperflex nodes from a pair of fabric interconnects to another

Hello Guys,

I am in a situation where the customer has an already installed hyperflex cluster bound to one pair of FI's. They need to move the cluster of hyperflex to another pair , is it possible?

What they need is to replicate all theyr workloads onto the current hyperflex cluster, then move it to another pair of FI's and then deploy a new vcenter after the cluster is moved.

Greetings.

I'm not aware that there is any sort of documented/supported workflow to accomplish that.

At a high level, you would want to:

  • export your UCSM logical config, so that all your pools, orgs, identities are carried over
  • Make sure you retain all your CIMC and Esxi level IP addresses and ranges
  • Make sure you discover your rack servers in same order, and service profiles are applied correctly.
  • confirm your org, UCSM account info is the same
  • Not sure if any cert level auth. is setup between HX connect and UCSM like there is between HX storage controller and ESXi hosts.
  • DON'T try to export and import 'system' config in UCSM.

If you are a consulting group helping managing a customer's environment, you really want to try this on a 'spare' set of FI's and hyperflex equipment first :)

Thank you, i appreciate your time

Were you ever able to successfully accomplish the move of the nodes to a new pair of FI’s?  I am in a similar situation and just want to make sure it is possible. Thanks.
