Need help configuring slots on UCS C210 M2

We have a client that needs a single nCipher SSL decode card...and as many Intel 10Gb NICS (please see attached) as possible in a number of UCS C210 M2 servers.

I have read the specs on the C210M2..but have to confess confusion regarding the number and type of available PCIe slots.  "full height/full length", x4, x8, "riser card" with PCIe slots?!

I am hoping someone can help me out with info on how best to configure the slots/riser card to meet the clients needs.

TIA!

Paul,

It can be a little confusing.

The C210 has the following slots available:

5 Standard Height PCIe Slots  (versus Low Profile "LP" which are found in the C250)

The speed of the slots are x8 Lane PCIe Gen2

The connectors used a on all of them "x16" (aka by sixteen)

Two Full Length, Three 1/2 length

Here's a pic of the riser card with two slots on one side, and three on the other.

The Intel card requires an x8 PCIe lane - Pass! (all are x8 PCIe Gen 2)

The Intel card will fit into a x4/x8/x16 slot - Pass! (all are x16)

The nShield card requires a single lane - Pass! (all are x8 PCIe Gen 2)

The nShield card has a low profile bezel - Fail!  (all are Std Height).

Unless the card comes with a Std Heigh Bezel to swap, this will not fit.  Many adapters today come with two bezels, one low profile, and one Std profile/height.

Assuming you can get the nShield SSL card in a Std profile variant/bezel you can fit an additional 4 of the Intel 10G NICs along with it.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Robert

Excellent!

Thanks very much!
