New vlan Vblock - fabric interconnect

Hi,

I want to do such a simple thing as adding a new vlan in a vblock solution. The Vblock comprise

  • a pair of 5548's,
  • a pair of 6100 FI's
  • Nexus 1000V on the VMware  hosts (VEM and VSM)

Have done the following:

- Manually added the vlan on both 5548's

- Added the vlan to the necessary vlan allowed lists on the 5548's (switchport trunk allowed vlan)

-> Evrything seems to worh here for the 5548's

Further

- Added the vlan manually to the 1000V

- Added the vlan to the necessary vlan allowed lists (in port profiles)

-> all trunks seems to permit and transport the new vlan

so far so good ....

Further - added the vlan to the FI switches through UCS manager GUI

And here's where I get problems.

The VLAN seems to be added to the portchannel vlan allowed list - but not to the physical links allowed list.

For example:

interface port-channel101

  description U: Uplink

  switchport mode trunk

  pinning border

  switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,218,224,591,2802,4048,4050-4051

switchport trunk allowed vlan add 4053-4054

  speed 10000

(2802 is the new vlan)

We can see that po101 comprise 8 ports:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group Port-       Type     Protocol  Member Ports

      Channel

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

101   Po101(SU)   Eth      LACP      Eth1/33(P)   Eth1/34(P)   Eth1/35(P)

                                     Eth1/36(P)   Eth1/37(P)   Eth1/38(P)

                                     Eth1/39(P)   Eth1/40(P)

When I check the config for the individual ports i shows:

interface Ethernet1/33

  description U: Uplink

  pinning border

  switchport mode trunk

  switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,218,591,4048,4050-4051,4053-4054

  channel-group 101 mode active

  no shutdown

Strange!! Even though the vlan is in the Po's allowed list - it is NOT in the phys ports allowed list

Seems like it's impossible to configure the FI switches via NxOs ....

Obvioulsy it is not possible to transport L2 traffic via this VLAN through the FI switches.

What shall I do to solve this?

/Jorgen
