i need to change the network adapter on my ucs c220 m35 vm machines from E1000E into vmxnet3 , can i simply delete the network adapter on the vm machines and add the other type? can it cause the vm machine to fail?

Hi baselzind
It's depend on the ESX and Virtuam Machines not Cisco UCS Physical Server
You can sipmply delete and add network adapter .
as long as ESXi and vritual machines can suuport vmxnet3 adapter.

Your GuestVM os will probably need to have the NIC that is newly discovered, configured, add IP address, etc.
Usually when replacing E1000 with VMXNET3 it assigns an incremented eth#, ie was eth0, now is eth1, in Linux.
Also, when using theVMXNET3 NIC, make sure you have updated VMware tools installed as that will contain the VMXNET3 drivers.
