Trunk from 6248 Fabric Interconnect to Cisco 3750

Hi all, have been trying to get this to work and I'm running into a wall.   This is a UCSB 5108 with 2 x 6248 FI's and 2 x 2208 FEX.  Very basic:

6248UP ----- 3750G

3750 port config:

c3750G-DMZ#sh run int g1/0/11

Building configuration...

Current configuration : 130 bytes

!

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/11

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

spanning-tree portfast trunk

end

6248 port config (configured from UCS Manager):

!Command: show running-config interface Ethernet1/12

!Time: Tue Sep 18 18:33:40 2012

version 5.0(3)N2(2.03a)

interface Ethernet1/12

  description U: Uplink

  pinning border

  switchport mode trunk

  switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-3,5,30-33,35,40-41,97-98,100-103,375-376,997,1000-1001

  speed 1000

  no shutdown

Weird thing is, the 3750 side shows up/up and the 6248 side shows:

6248-01-A(nxos)# show int eth 1/12

Ethernet1/12 is down (Link not connected)

  Hardware: 1000/10000 Ethernet, address: 547f.eea7.29b3 (bia 547f.eea7.29b3)

  Description: U: Uplink

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec,

     reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

  Encapsulation ARPA

  Port mode is trunk

  auto-duplex, 1000 Mb/s, media type is 10G

I have checked:

  1. License = good
  2. Port speed configured
  3. Tried a different SFP and cable.
    1. nxos recognizes the transceiver
  4. Moved ports on both switches
  5. Every combination of shut / not shut you can think of...

Not really sure where to go next.  Any suggestions?

Can you get CDP info from each device:

3750 - show cdp neigh

UCS - connect nxos

        - show cdp neigh

Paste the output here.

Also provide the exact tranceiver type used in each port.

UCS - connect nxos

        - show int eth1/12 trans det

Thanks,

Robert

Thanks for response.  I didn't mention before, trying to implement L2 disjointed network for this

looks like you have A 10G SFP in a port configured for 1000M

auto-duplex, 1000 Mb/s, media type is 10G

try a 1G GLC-T SFP and see if that gets link up.

Hi Todd, our postings crossed.  I noticed that too - not sure why it says that.  Here's what nxos says the transceiver is:

Ethernet1/12

    transceiver is present

    type is 1000base-T

    name is OEM

    part number is SFP-T

    revision is 11.0

    serial number is ATS12060073

    nominal bitrate is 1300 MBit/sec

Link length supported for copper is 100 m

    cisco id is --

cisco extended id number is 4

It is a GLC-T

Just wanted to close loop on this.  Customer replaced the GLC-T with an SFP-GE-T.  All good now.
