Hi,

We would like to upgrade the memory in Cisco UCS B200 M4 blade server.

Current Memory configuration

16GB * 12 = 192

What will be the supported configuration .. 16GB * 18 slots or 16GB * 16Slots?

Any one please help.

You can use memory populations that are outside the listed numbers of 2,4,8,12, but may/may not provide suboptimal performance.

As long as you mirror both CPUs with the following order (A0, B0, C0, D0,,,,A1,B1,C1,D1,,,,A2,B2,C2,D2)

If you don't have enough dimms to complete a bank, then you place those in the alphabetical order (i.e. A before b), and in the lowest available bank number (i.e. A1, before A2, etc)

Thanks,

Kirk...

Greetings.

checking the spec sheet at https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-b-series-blade-servers/b200m4-specsheet.pdf

it shows 2,4,8,12 DIMMs per CPU are the recommended population rules.

You can you add additional dimms, but make sure they are the same speed, capacity, and use the next available slot (if you have use a1,b1,c1,d1,,,a2,b2,c2,d2,,, then use A3,, and E3 if you are trying to do 18 slots total (9 per CPU).

Thanks,

Hi Kirk,

Thanks

We would like to put additional 6 Memory ...3 for each CPU. so total 18 Slots(9 per CPU).

Current installation order in B200 M3 Server is

A0, A1, B0, B1, C0, D0 - CPU1
E0, E1, F0, F1, G0, H0 - CPU2

So the new installation order will be this one..Could you please help?

A0, A1, A2, B0, B1, C0, C1, D0, D1 - CPU1

E0, E1, E2, F0, F1, G0, G1, H0, H1 - CPU2

Current installation order in B200 M4 is

A1, A2, B1, C1, C2, D1 - CPU1
E1, E2, F1, G1, G2, H1  - CPU2

So the new installation order will be this one for M4

A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2 - CPU1

E1, E2, E3, F1, F2, G1, G2, H1, H2 - CPU2

We had B200 M3 and B200 M4 server using clock speed 1600Mhz and 2133Mhz respectively. Recommended configuration in cisco website is 12 slots * 16GB. Can we go with memory upgrade in both the servers to 18 slots..this will support right?
