I've been doing UCS upgrades for years. I have a client with a UCS C240M3S standalone rack mount server running a version of CIMC 1.5(4). They are hitting the CIMC defect that prevents CIMC access so I'm unable to find out exactly what version.
I've done the typical UCS HW/SW Compatibility Matrix Analysis and come up with a recommended UCS firmware version of 2.0(13h) and the recommended RAID and NIC async drivers. They are running ESXi 5.1 U2 and have a I350 NIC and a LSI 9271-8i RAID adapter.
My question is - does this have to be a step upgrade from firmware version 1.5(4) to some interim CIMC firmware version and then up to 2.0(13h)?
I've scoured the release notes and engaged TAC but I'm not getting a definitive understanding of the required upgrade path to upgrade to 2.0(13h).
TIA,
Amir

this is a good question
i suggest you open a tac ticket and get them to answer as you have a valid Q

for C-series most probably you can upgrade to minor to major version.
For safer side raise a SR with Cisco TAC to get the confirmation and also review the open caveats for the latest version of the firmware.
