Dear Sirs,
I have one UCS C240-M3S Server.
Because I can't open the kvm console with java, I decide to upgrade the firmware with CIMC.
When I upgraded the CIMC and upload the firmware , my notebook computer crashed.
The result is that UCS is very slow to boot.
I try use the "ucs-c240-huu-1.5.2" disk to upgrade the UCS again, but it is NOT work. (System hang on loading kernel...)
How can I solve this problem? Thank you!

Hey Ching,
I hope this few tips can help you to get this issue resolved soon.
To start off, to resolve the first issue with the KVM, please check the following post:
KVM Does Not Launch After Upgrade of UCS C220 M3 Servers to 1.5(1b) Problem Resolution
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10493/products_tech_note09186a0080bfd518.shtml
Another possibility, you can't open KVM may be caused due to the Java version is out of date, please check the message pops up when KVM fails to start. Java version 1.6 is required at least.
Now, the main issue is your system is not booting up and stops at loading kernel.
- Could you please describe more details or attach a screenshot where the server hang?
- How did you perform the cimc upgrade?
- Have you performed a power cycle?
If the workaround with the KVM did work, try downloading the HUU tool to complete the upgrade.

Or another feature we have available on 1.5 version is by mapping the iso image under the virtual Media Tab.
Then -> click Add New Mapping
Creating a CIMC-Mapped vMedia Volume
Please let me know the outcome.

Dear Cristian Munoz,
Thank you for your reply.
The steps of upgrade are as below,
1. login the webpage for CIMC
2. click the link of upgrade CIMC firmware
3. upload the file of "c240-m3-cimc.1.5.2.zip" and start to upgrade
(at this moment, the IE crashed. I didn't see anything and server was rebooted by itself after 3 mins)
4. The webpage for CIMC can't be opened
Does CISCO have any SOP for CIMC upgrade fail with C240-M3S?
Thank you!

Hi Ching-Wei,
You mentioned the file that you attempted to upload is a ZIP file, is that correct? This update mechanism does not support update through the ZIP file (presumably this is the file embedded in the ISO that you downloaded - is that correct?)
If you cannot get acess to the KVM (See instructions posted by Chris above that may address these issues), you can use one of our Non-Interactive HUU utilities. I have posted these utilities along with videos and a Getting Started Guide on the UCS Management Communities site here: https://communities.cisco.com/docs/DOC-36277

Dear Jeffrey,
Thank you for your answer,
I follow your methods, but it is NOT work at all.
I try use the "ucs-c240-huu-1.5.2" disk to upgrade the UCS now, it HANG ON the boot screen as below.
Final, the screen is black. When I press ctrl, alt, and del, the server restart again.
Does support have idea for this? Thank you very much!!
