Hello,
I'm using a pair of FI-6454 (4.0.4g) with B200-M5 servers running VMware ESXi 6.7
I would like to understand the behaviour of the parameter "LUN Queue Depth" on the default "VMware" FC Adapter Policy
Extract from the Documentation :
The number of commands that the HBA can send and receive in a single transmission per LUN.
Enter an integer between 1 and 254. The default LUN queue depth is 20.
We have some VMware issues with the Queue Depth value starting at 32 (nfnic driver default) that start decreasing an never increase back to normal and create VM performance issues (KAVG latencies). We already engaged VMWare support but without success so far.
We are now investigating this UCS parameter:
- Why does the UCS policy default value is at 20 when the Cisco nfnic driver for VMware default value is 32 ?
- Is it advised to align it with the OS ? (In this case, 32 like the nfnic driver default) ? Or even higher ?
- What will be the exact impact of changing this value ? Does someone have experience with this ?
Thank you
Laurent
