I had to reboot a VM yesterday which hosts UCS Director, the server itself seems ok however when I browse to the UCS Director GUI and logon with the local user account I get the following error;
Authentication Service encountered an error.
Any ideas?

This is probably too late for you Alex, but just in case anyone with the same problem hits this page looking for a solution:
- ssh to the UCSD, log in as shelladmin
- select the option to stop all services
- wait a minute
- select the option to start all services
- wait a bit longer, select the option to check the services status from time to time
- when all services are shown as "running", the system is still starting up so it's possible you don't get the login screen yet when connection to the GUI
- as soon as you do get the login screen, you should be able to log in.

Just ran into this with 5.4, and your solution worked. Thank you!

Ran into this on a fresh Hyper-V install of 5.5. This also resolved my issue.
