Hey all
Currently our UCS has connected 2 old cisco 9148 switches, vsan 10 and 11. We plan to add a new set of new 9148S MDS on new port-channels on the FIs with the same vsans. These MDS will not be connected between them in anyway (ISL).
Will the FI "duplicate" the WWNs on both sides? (old and new mds). The servers will have 4 hbas, 2 of them on each "old" and "new" MDS.
Thanks!

You will have 1 WWNN assignment per blade/server, and 1 WWPN per vHBA. If you are going to be using the same vsan on two independent MDS/san switch connections, then you will probably need to use san-pinning policy to make sure your right hosts get pinned to the right SAN uplinks/POs. Normally we see different vsans used to help correctly direct the traffic for a scenario like yours. If something is forcing you to use the same vsan for both sets of MDS switches,, then create a SAN Pin Group Policy for each of the MDS switches. The Pin Group will point to the MDS san port-channel.

Yeah we ended using different vsan since we didn't exactly know how this will behave.... Thanks
