Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the behaviour of authentication the Fabric Interconnect 6200 currently running software 2.2 5(d).
I've just had to RMA a unit and found with pairing the new unit to the cluster, we have to set the authentication back to Local from tacacs to get the admin account to work.
My question is if the FI cannot contact its AAA server (connection timed out), whether it be tacacs, ldap or radius will it automatically fall back to local user accounts. or will authentication simple not work.

It will not fail back. You will need to tell the UCS when you log in to switch realms. Hopefully you made a Local authentication realm during setup. If you did, and say it was called Local, you would either select Local from the drop down box for the GUI or use the following as the username when logging in at the console or through SSH: "ucs-Local\admin".
