Hello,
I need to give some app developers KVM access to servers using the Direct KVM feature.
Can you advise how authentication works for this? I'm able to access the out of band IP address OK, but whatever credentials I try it say "Login: Authentication Failed.
I'm using LDAP and provider groups, which are fine for UCSC and UCSM. Versions i'm using are 2.2.2(c) with UCS Central 1.2(1f).
Does KVM Direct need any special groups set-up at all? I assumed it would use the native LDAP authentication I have set-up but does it need local UCS created accounts instead?
Many Thanks,
Ryan

Q. Are you referring to out of band manangement, e.g.

No, I have an IP pool configured for Outband IPv4, there is some information here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/2-2/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_2/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_2_chapter_0100111.html
Under the section "Starting the KVM Console from the Cisco UCS KVM Direct Web Page" it says: The server CIMC or service profile IPv4 management address for the server you want to access.
I am getting to the point where I am presented with a login page for the server, but as I say the authentication fails, but it works ok if I KVM using this IP address from within UCSM with the same account. I guess the difference is I have authenticated at the UCSM login, rather than trying to pass though a server directly.
