I have sufficient licenses installed, but nevertheless, one port is in the grace period.  I'm using 44 ports.  I have 44 licenses installed.  Why is the grace period active?

Could it be, that you have a port, which is configured, but not used, e.g. no cable connected.....

Check that any idle port is in the state "unconfigured"; otherwise a port license is used.

I do have four unconfigured ports on each FI, so they shouldn't be consuming any licenses.

On each FI, I have the following.
  • 4 unconfigured ports
  • 4 fc-uplink ports
  • 8 eth-uplink ports
  • 32 eth-server ports
48 ports total
44 ports requiring licenses.
I have 44 licenses installed.  I don't get it.

Any help is appreciated.  thanks.

Hi Craig

I assume you have 6248 ?

The UCS 6248UP has 32 physical ports out of 32 ports 12 ports are pre licensed .You can expand it up to 48 ports by using expansion module UCS-FI-E16UP (16-port Expansion module) in which out of 16 ports 8 ports are pre licensed .

The UCS 6248UP (with expansion module) has total of 48 ports in which 20 ports are pre licensed ,remaining ports can be licensed by using UCS-LIC-10GE per port .

Therefore you would need 24 port licenses.
