UCSM vlan issues

I am setting up my first UCS system and have run into something that I wouldnt have expected.

In keeping with best practice, I use a vlan # other than 1 for the default vlan on trunk connections. The network I am using has been setup for vlan 4000 to keep this number anywhere out of the usable range.

UCSM 2.1(1e) has shown a couple of quirks -

1) It wont accept a vlan # over 3967, I am using vlan 4000 for my "dummy vlan" as the native vlan

2) Unable to delete vlan 1

Anyone else run into this ? Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed that will let me do either of these ?

Would hate to have to change the network to a new native vlan or create an additional one just for UCS.

Welcome to UCS.

ID 4000 is in reserved range and is not allowed in UCSM.

Important:

You cannot create VLANs with IDs from 3968 to 4047. This range of VLAN IDs is reserved.

And by design, VLAN 1 cannot be deleted from the system.

Sorry to hear on both answers.

A little surprised about Vlan 1 since the route/switch side of the house at Cisco preaches about vlan 1 bad.  Would at least like to be able to disable it.

Will have to come up with an additional dummy vlan to use for the native vlan just for UCS.
