Upgrade UCS Manager to 2.2(3d)

I have a UCS installation where the Infrastructure is at Firmware level 2.1(3a).  Some of the blades in the chassis are still running Bios and adapter versions 2.0(2q) due to the systems not being able to rebooted as of yet.  I would like to move the whole system to version 2.2(3d).  My question is should I

1)  Schedule a reboot for the blades that are on 2.0(2q) to get them to firmware version 2.1(3a) first and then upgrade everything to 2.2(3d) ?

or

2)  Should I just go straight to 2.2(3d) and adjust the Bios policies accordingly and reboot the blades to bring them up to 2.2(3d) with everything else?

Are there any concerns with doing option 2?

You should first check with the interop matrix tool

http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/ucs/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

which version is appropriate for the blades and the OS you are using.

Then, you might running the infrastructure at 2.2.3d, and your blades at 2.2.3d or one Version older, according to table 2 in the release notes

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/release/notes/ucs_2_2_rn.html

Good luck

Walter.
