VIF Hold Down

Hi All

I seem to be getting the following error messages in the fault logs and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this:

ether VIF 2 / 1 B-752 down, reason: VIF Hold Down.

The server uplinks all report as being ok and the port channel seems to be good.

Thanks

Hi Johan,

The above fault only says that the virtual interface you configured on your service profile is down. It can happen for many reasons. The most common is if a blade has a service profile attached to it but is powered down, or powered up with NO operating system installed. This generally happens because there is nothing to tell the VIF to be up so seeing VIF hold down messages can be normal.

Hope that helps

Thanks,

Michael
