I am aware of the benefits as published in the literature about the benefits of VM-FEX and SR-IOV but would like some clarifications/opinione from anyone who is currently running this sort of setup.
OS: Windows 2012 hyper-v
UCSM: 2.1(2a)
I under the following:
SR-IOV is a specification that allows multiple VMs to share a single PCIe device correct?
In order to utilize this specification on Windows 2012 you have to enable/configure VM-FEX is UCSM correct?
This means you can't run VM-FEX on Windows 2012 without SR-IOV correct?
One is the specification and the other is the actual mechanism (VM-FEX) to achieve SR-IOV?
It essentially will by-pass the virtual switch in the parent partition, enabling traffic to be switched in the FIs, correct?
Thanks for any clarification.....
