Hi,
In a test plant I need to install esxi 4.1, not in production network, as it can be done without buying the vmware licenze (custom cisco iso)?
Someone did install esxi 4.1 (not cisco custom iso) with success on ucs c serie 24 M3 ?

Is there any particular reason not going with ESXi 5.5?

no, because the environment is a test plant and the customer not want to buy the licenses for vmware, and I saw on the website that the version 4.1 (not custom cisco iso) is free
I can install the free version 4.1 on ucs ?

You can download and install ESXi 5.5 from vmware.com and install it on c24 M3. ESXi is free hypervisor as a standalone product and with some minor restrictions...but you can freely download it and install on your machine.

Sure - just download it from vmware.com (register there etc) and you will receive your free ESXi license so you can use it after 60 day trial...

You can get cisco custom iso from vmware.com I think...or you can go with default official esxi version...in either way you will receive your free license for that.
Custom is just more preloaded with drivers needed for cisco hardware...but official iso is also OK and it should work just fine.
