BIOS Policies and Core Multi Processing

Hi,

We are trying to use the Core Multi Processing feature in the BIOS policy to mask the number of CPUs available on a server for Oracle licencing purposes.

I can set this to 3 (so the dual socket server should present 6 cores) and then use this policy against the relevant Service Profile Template and the Service Profile for the server in question.

When I boot the server with this proflle applied against it the BIOS still sees 16 cores (2 x 8 Core CPU). I have left it to boot, it is currently an ESXi host but ESXi also still sees 16 cores.

The firmware on the CIMC controller is 3.1(1e).

From what I have read this should work and the feature is there specifically for cases where licencing based on the number of cores in important.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Richard

Greetings.

Please confirm which blade model and which specific processor PID (e.g.E5-2643)  you are experiencing this with.  See https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuo97907/?reffering_site=dumpcr

Also, see https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtz59284/?reffering_site=dumpcr, and try setting the desired cores to an even number.

Thanks,

Kirk...
