Cisco UCS firmware Upgrade Questions

Hello

Our Current UCS firmware is at 2.2 (5b) and are planning an upgrade to 2.2 (8g), and are currently using the B200 M3 and M4 Model Servers and running Esxi 6.0.U2 with  Version: Version 1.6.0.25  fnic & Version: Version 2.3.0.7, enic drivers.

After the UCS firmware Upgrade to 2.2 (8g) and the Server firmware Upgrades , Do i also need to upgrade the fnic and enic drivers or can i plan to upgrade to Esxi 6.0.U3 and this will take care of the enic and fnic drivers ?

When you upgrade the UCS firmware or the ESXi version, you always need to ensure your drivers are in spec, per: https://ucshcltool.cloudapps.cisco.com/public/

Understood, to clarifiy further. I need to upgrade the enic/fnic only after a server firmware is upgarde not otherwise, as i will have to plan it out on multiple days. After the Infrastructure is upgraded.

Typically, we will upgrade enic and fnic drivers at same time as firmware.

Place host in maintenance mode, upgrade enic/fnic to new driver version. Reboot.

Then push firmware upgrades to server via UCSM.

Additional Information I am revieng the Internal Dependencies for upgrade from 2.2 (5b) to 2.2 (8g) and the table shows Minimum Qualified Software Version & Recommended Software Version. What does this Say can u give an example and will it affect my upgrade.

I am running FI 6296 and B200 M3 and B200 M4 hardware currently at 2.2 (5b)

Check the interop matrix, which will clearly show you, which Blade model BIOS/Cimc/adaptor requires (resp.is certified) with which OS version, and the fnic/enic version.

I would also check the release notes for 2.2.8g,
