EMC Data Domain directly connected as a VTL

Can I connect an EMC Data Domain working as a VTL (with EMC Networker) directly to Fabric Interconnects of a UCS 2.1?

Direct attachment of Tape library system to FI is not supported.

Is not supported, but it should work.....or it wouldn't even technically work?

Direct attach topology is not tested and hence not supported.

It might work though.
