M72KR-Q and vSphere

Hi all,

Has anyone managed to install VMware vSphere 4.1 on a blade with M72KR-Q mezzanine? I already found out it requires custom drivers, ESX is really needed, not ESXi.

According to VMware HCL it is supported.

I tried two set of drivers:

vmware-esx-drivers-scsi-qla2xxx_400.841.k1.16.2-1vmw.2.17.00000.340223.iso

vmware-esx-drivers-scsi-qla2xxx_400.832.k1.27.1-1vmw.2.17.00000.291979.iso

None of them works & the ESX 4.1 installation throws this error:

"no network adapters were dedected"

Am I missing something or is it plainly not working?

Regards,
Radek

Hi Radek,

I have previously set this up in my lab. I was using the following:

   - Gen 2 QLogic (M72KR-Q)
   - ESX 4.1
   - UCS Firmware 1.4(1j)
   - Latest VMware Drivers

The driver bundle from VMware that I used:

   - VMware ESX/ESXi 4.x Driver CD for QLogic 8100 Series Converged Network Adapters - 1.0.0.43 - 2011/01/03
   -> vmware-esx-drivers-net-qlge_400.1.0.0.43-1OEM.338044.iso
   -> http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/esx_esxi4x_qlogic_qle8152_schultz/ZCV0YnRlQGRiZHdldA==

See if that helps your situation.

Thanks,
Michael
