UCS C220 M4 with Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 processor(DDR4 2133Mhz) with 2400Mhz memories?

One client wants to buy UCS C220 M4 serverand they have described in the procurement materials Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 processor and DDR4 2400MHz memories.

From Intel specifications I found that this processor supports memories up to 2133MHz. So will this configuration work also with 2400MHz memories or do we have to change memories to 2133Mhz?

Regards,
Markko

If you use Intel v4 CPU with 2400 MHz RAM memories (...RV-A=) you can achieve 2400 Mhz speed when you use only two slots per channels (you can fill up to 16 of 24 slots).

To check if your motherboard supports the Intel Core i7-4790K, verify the socket type and chipset compatibility; your current i5-4210U uses a different socket. My Intel Core i7-9700 @ 3.00GHz also requires a compatible socket, so make sure to check these details before upgrading.

John are you an AI hallucinating? Because you are giving generic advice which doesn't apply to the question asked.

The C240 M4 spec sheet shows the Highest DDR4 DIMM Clock Support (MHz) as: 2133

Table 6 Available Intel CPUs
..snip..
UCS-CPU-E52620E E5-2620 v4 2.10 85 20 8 8.0 GT/s 2133

At the bottom of table 6 it shows:

Notes . . .
1. If higher or lower speed DIMMs are selected than what is shown in the table for a given CPU,
the DIMMs will be clocked at the lowest common denominator of CPU clock and DIMM clock.

Translation: Installed 2400 MHz DIMMs will "slow down" and run at 2133 MHz to match the maximum for that specific CPU.
