Call manager and 3rd external voice mail systems

we are just looking to introduce CCM into an established PBX network which has a 3rd party voicemail system. When trying to forward a call from a CCM extn to the VM we don't get the original called party extension number. And hence the VM doesn't know that this was a forwarded call. Any ideas how this can be done.

I came accross a document which said that "Only Ten Digits Can be Sent to or Received From Voicemail (VM) System" . I feel hence it cannot pass the extenstion number which is in addition to the 10 digit number. For more information refer to the following document:
