Delay In Call Setup

Hi All,

I'm currently using the setup below:

Nortel PBX ------E1/R2------- Cisco 3660 (NM-HDV-1E1-30E)

The Nortel PBX has the following description:

Make: Nortel Meridian SL1 - XT

Version: 1211 Release 16 Issue 91

The Cisco 3660 has the following IOS:

Version 12.1(5)T4

I'm currently experiencing a 3 to 4 sec delay in call setup. Every time an extension on the PBX side dials an IP extension, it takes about 3 sec before we hear a ring tone.

I checked the debug on the Cisco side, and according to the time stamps, there is a difference of 3 sec between the fist digit of the called party and the last digit of the caller ID. Moreover, there is approximately a 100ms delay from the time the Cisco router send an acknowledgment and receiving the next digit from the PBX!!

Is there a way to speed up this process? What are the parameters that can be changed in order to affect this setup time?

Any idea, help will be appreciated.

I pasted a small copy of the debug:

Ziadk,

I recently had similar issues with one of my 3640's

not sure if this fix would apply to you but here it is

apply this to the voice port your currently have the delay problems on.

timeouts interdigit 3

it worked for me it cut the delay before tone from 13secs to 4secs
