We are about to migrate from a PBX to Call Manager with 7940/7960 phones. Many of them are in very loud areas. Currently, each PBX phone has an associated analog port with an amplified ringer configured with the same DN. It is my understanding that CallManager won't allow an analog port and an IP phone to share the same DN in the same partition. Is there a suitable workaround that anyone can suggest?

Couple of options:
shared line with an ATA186 then connect the FXS port of the gateway a bell cracking open the handset, and hooking up a bell to pull voltage from the little red light and make it ring a large bell

Tip: if you plan to use an FXS port to drive a horn or ringer of some type you will more than likely need to boost the ring voltage. We used this product from Viking Model: RG-10A. The FXS ports put out between 30 and 40v AC for ring voltage and most ringers need 90vAC.

Thanks a lot. Apparantly, a SKINNY gateway can have a shared line appearance with an ip phone. We are using the VG248's and the ring voltage is rather low on these devices. This may be the solution we were looking for...
