Cisco SPA232D ATA and the Cisco SPA302D Wireless handset roaming

I'm reading the documentation for SPA 232D and I see that it supports up to 5 SPA 302D stations.

In this project I have 4 floors and we need total of 15 phones:

3 - Basement

5 - Ground    

4 - First floor         

3 - Second floor         

When person is using 302D phone from the basement may not have reception when they walk to the top floor.

Can we do roaming between 232D? Is there a way to interconnect them ? The range in documentation may not be sufficient.

What would be the recommended Cisco solution for this, we want to use DECT.

Range: Indoor: 165 ft (50m); outdoor: 980 ft (300m)

Thanks for considering the spa232d for this project,

Unfortunately with the current firmware it does not support handset roaming between base stations.  There is not an easy way to transfer handsets between units (you must unregister from one base station, and re-register with the 2nd spa232d).

The distance from the datasheet is optimal in a perfect environment, and I would expect real world to be somewhat less.

I woud suggest get one spa232d and one spa302 (possibly a demo unit from your reseller), and test the range on the customer site.  Basically do a site survey to see where to best place of the unit.

If you need more than 5 units on a floor, or signal won't  reach both ends of the area, 2 - spa232d devices may be required.  Some handsets would be registered to one, some to the other.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the response, Im new in the DECT world, does Cisco support or is aware of a DECT device (cisco or third party) which can boost up the DECT signal from the base station? Not sure if thats even possible.

Cisco Small business does not sell an extender for DECT.

I'm not an expert on DECT, but there are some engineers from the BU who watch these forums, Someone else may have another suggestion.
