I was wondering if it is possible to use Cisco XML Phone applications over https (SSL) on cisco spa 500 series phones. I have tried to run xml applications on servers that have certificates signed by an internet CA, and this does not work. I was wondering if i got a certificate signed by cisco as outlined in https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9852 if I could run
Cisco XML Phone applications over https (SSL).

Well, I disassembled the SPA50xG. There is nothing like switch chip inside. The switching seems to run on MCU.
Note I updated my comment with test results. I added notice related to size of DH keys.

According to SPA-525G2 firmware release notes, seems to have several hardware versions of this phone :
SPA525G2-EU(128 flash)
SPA525G2 (128M flash) - serial CCQ18160L03 and after
SPA525G/G2 (32M flash) - serial before CCQ18160L03
Do you know if they have CPU differences ?
Will one of these compute XML applications over TLS faster than the 2 others ?
I have units with CCQ165* serials (bought mid-2014), are they really the 32M flash version ?
(I can't find flash info in their web interface)
Thank U !

As far as I know there is no difference in CPU.
Flash size is not disclosed via UI. Try to turn on syslog&debug messages and observe the phone's boot.
Or disassemble it, but beware of warranty ;-)

Hi Dan,
Did you have the chance to test HTTPS XML apps on the new 8800 series ?
Thanks !
Ben

1. SPA8800 is ATA, not SPA IP Phone. As far as I know the ATAs supports no XML scripting at all ...
2. I have SPA8800 nowhere, so no way to test ...

Good test, I'm interested to know if SP1514G (which seems to only have 1Gbps ports instead of 100Mbps ports) is faster than SPA504G or not.
SPA525G2 could have more chances, perhaps that due to its functions (WiFi, BT, MP3...) it has a faster hardware.
Any chance to have it tested too ?
About feature requests, how to make them ?
I would have liked to write one regarding SNI...
Thank you Dan & Adam, interesting thread
