Hello,
I ordered a PAP2T from ebay. It shipped from Hong Kong.
After reading a number of posts regarding counterfeit devices, I wonder if this is also counterfeit.
There is a barcode label for both the serial number and MAC address on the back of the unit. However, there is no numeric serial number or mac address printed. It is just the barcode. The numeric barcode translation is blank. That concerned me.
One of the posts I read had a link to identify the company associated with the MAC address. It was "Scientific Tech" something or other, not Cisco or Linksys.
Product Name: | PAP2T | Serial Number: | FLI00F821056

![]() | MAC Address: | 00173202671E | Client Certificate: | Installed

Can anyone tell me if this is a counterfeit. Or if there is a way to tell?
I can't get it to work with Gizmo5 and GoogleVoice, which is why I bought it.
Thanks

I recently bought a PAP2T from a Hong Kong ebay seller.
The label on the unit gives a MAC address which belongs to Joytoto Co. and the actual address from the web interface belongs to Science-Technical Cen.
Is this definitely a counterfeit unit or is there any way it could be genuine?
The paper labels on the unit also seem fairly crudely applied.

P.S. The serial no. printed on the label says FLI00G226125
but the serial no. from web access to the device itself is:
FLI00F820002
Can I tell my credit card co. that this is a definite fake?
MAC address according to the web access is
001732024000
(not the same as on the printed label).
Responses appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Spaceless,
To expedite the process of identification, please follow Patrick's instructions in his posting above.
Remove any sensitive information from the configuration of the PAT2T such as passwords or userID's, so you do not compromise your own privacy, and perform the actions as mentioned by Patrick above. his reference https://www.myciscocommunity.com/docs/DOC-9944
That information that you post will have all the details needed to identify the unit. I personally have no heard of fake PAP2T.
regards Dave

Hi mjbad2pap2,
Please check the MAC that you supplied.
Jason's coffer.com reports that it is an invalid MAC: http://www.coffer.com/mac_find/?string=00%3AB3%3A0A%3A01%3A0F%3A03
Please refer to https://www.myciscocommunity.com/message/29577#29577
If you purchased the device from a Cisco reseller, it is not fake. If you purchased it for a very low price or from a dubious source, all bets are off.
Regards,
Patrick
