Hi,
I was wondering whether the UC540 is compatible with the CP-3905 Phone. In the datasheet says it is compatible with the below but doesn't say anything about the CP-3905.
Choice of Cisco Unified IP Phones 6900 and 7900 Series and Cisco Small Business SPA Series IP Phones,
including wireless handsets and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) phones.

Can I assume it is supported?

Hello Juan,
Unfortunately, that phone is not compatible with the UC500 series.
You can find the compatible phones at this link: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9827#Phone_Firmware_Matrix
Thanks,

Hi John,
The UC500 Series support SIP phones, don't they? CP-3905 is a SIP phone, so by inference, shouldn't the CP-3905 be supported as well. For that matter, can I run other brand SIP phones with the UC500 series?

Kok:
"Officially" Cisco only supports a few SIP phones (all of them Cisco phones of course). In general, you can get just about any SIP device to work with a UC500 if you don't care about support from Cisco.
When Cisco says "supported" you have to be careful about what they mean; it could be one of two things:
1. Technically it works, but TAC does not offer support for it.
2. The system does not have that capability.
#1 is a lot more common than #2...
