SPA112 not receiving incoming calls

This a a new SPA112 configured for RingCentral in the USA (www.ringcentral.com)

I can make outgoing calls. I can receive incoming calls if they are a short period after I mad an outgoing call - but after a longer period the phone does not ring on incoming calls. If I make an outgoing call then I can receive incoming calls again for a short period. So there seems to be some timeout at play. I have spend hours with RingCentral support and they cannot figure it out - they have now said they will no longer give me support. They do sell the SPA122 (which is basically the same device) so I don't see why the SAP112 will not work.

Attached is a log file. There are 3 calls, call 1 is an incoming call that did not ring, call 2 is an outgoing call, call 3 is an incoming call that did ring.

SPA112 and 122 both use the same firmware, so the functionality when it comes to the phones is the same. The 122 just has an extra ethernet port to you can plug it in between your modem and your router (or computer).

It seems that you're losing your registration to their servers. I say that because there is nothing in the log to suggest the first call even made it to you. Also, when you try to make the outgoing call, you get a "407 Proxy Authentication Required" back, meaning their servers have no idea who you are. Once you authenticate, the call goes through and you're registered and can receive calls, until the registration times out.

Under 'Line 1' (or 2 as the case my be), under 'Proxy and Registration', make sure that 'Register' is set to 'Yes'. If that is already like that, check the 'Register Expires' value. That's the number of seconds between registrations. I have mine set to 180 (3 minutes). But you can try lower values, even 30 seconds, and see if it makes any difference.

I changed Register Expires to 180 and that seems to do the trick.

Previously the phone would not ring after about 5 minutes, now it rings after 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 15 minutes. I'm going to leave it for an hour and see if it still rings.

That certainly has fixed the problem, several hours later and the phone keeps working.

Thank you.

Awesome. Glad I could help.

Thanks for providing this answer. It solved my problem 2 years later!
