Speaker phone mic intermittently not picking up voice

We have 11 Cisco IP Phone SPA504G handsets set up with a Hosted PBX VoIP system. We are having issues with one of the handsets (not noticed on any of the others yet), that when using the speaker phone mode the internal callers voice is intermittently not being picked up (ie. the external caller can not hear the internal caller's voice. Sometimes it is too quiet, other times voice can not be heard at all, other times the voice is perfectly clear). However when the fault is occurring and the internal caller picks up the handset the internal voice is perfectly clear to the external caller.  Just wondering if this is a faulty speaker phone mic issue on this particular handset, or an issue more related to the VoIP system. Any light shed on this will be much appreciated.
